Admin: Disable permission for external calls

It would be a really good feature if you where able to block certain outgoing calls. eg this would prevent staff from calling numbers like 118118, or other premium rate numbers.

Can RingCentral please add the feature to block outgoing calls to certain numbers, just like we are able to block certain incoming numbers, to the administrator of the account? This would certainly help the company prevent misuse of work number and cut down in expenses.

Hi is it possible for me to block all my users placing outbound calls to specific numbers that we are legally not allowed to make contact with? 

It is really causing us problems and if a solution is not found we are looking to move onto another service provider that has this facility... 

Our account is UK...

Hi I see that you've merged my question but it doesn't answer it for me?

I see you've mentioned that a feature request has been made but in all honestly I asked this question over a year ago to be told the same thing, I was also promised call analytics was due out for November last year when we signed up that hasn't happened.

So in a yes or no answer "IS OUTBOUND CALL BLOCKING TO SPECIFIC NUMBERS AVAILABLE YES OR NO?"

We are in a high security environment and need a way to require a user to authorize the phone prior to making an outside call. This could be accomplished by a PIN code per extension or something similar. For example: User picks up handset. User enters PIN. User gets a dialtone and can make an outside call. 

When I spoke to the sales rep when creating the account they told me this was possible. This was reaffirmed by the sales rep when I ordered the phones. Now that I have ordered several phones and am on-site with them for an install I am finding out from tech support that this is not possible. 

I need to have this functionality or will be required to find an alternate provider and send the phones back. I have been very happy with RingCentral so far but I cannot get around these security requirements.

Extension is set to block all calls except all those on allow list but extensions are still blocked. Current workaround is to add all extensions to the allow list.  Can we have a selection that would put all internal extensions on the allow list? This has happened since the last update.

I am a partner with RC and also provide deployment support with the professional services team and I have been asked this question several times from many individuals and  here are some of the scenarios.

  1. Common area phones ( kitchens, lobbies, gates) . They want to only allow local extension dialing. They do not provide strangers or visitors the ability to dial put from common area phones as listed above. But still want the capability to reach an extension should they need help.
  2. Security instances -Because of highly regulated environments they do not want outbound calling privileges
  3. A variation of the same request also includes blocking specific outbound calls ( premium rate phone numbers etc..)
I believe this function should be a basic function that should be activated on RC accounts.

There is now possible using the Custom Roles and Permissions feature.  Look under the Policies section.  By default Domestic and Internal calls are selected.  Just uncheck the Domestic box and this will leave only internal dialing as an option.

This does not answer the posted question. We would like to be able block outgoing calls to specific numbers, not block ALL external numbers.

Can this be set for specific extension only and not system wide? can we disable permission for external calls on Cisco SPA122 adapter extension as well?

Chris is correct, you can create this custom role and only assign it to the extensions that you wish :)

i havent looked into it much, but id assume you should be able to or at the least make a new "role" to assign to extensions you dont want using certain features.

Correct, You can create custom roles and allow / disallow domestic or international calls. However there are 2 possible issues with the answers provided as it only applies to full digital lines..
  1. Custom roles are not activated on all Ring Central accounts. You need special permission or provisions to make this happen
  2. The custom roles only apply to Full digital lines and not Limited extensions. It would be a damn shame to have a line on an account where you pay full price just to allow extension only dialing. This functionality should also be available for limited extensions..

Or Ring Central can create a new feature similar to Announcement Only extensions or message only extensions and hopefully name it something similar to " Internal dialing only extensions". As I had mentioned above having to pay a full digital line fee for a phone that will only have dial tone with no external calling abilities would be a waste of money and resources.

Could anyone advise if there is a way of blocking certain numbers from being called? For example if a customer advises us they are on the TPS list can we add their number to the system to prevent it from receiving any further accidental calls?
