List extensions in the voicemail recording

It would be nice to have a feature where the names and extension numbers of our staff is listed on the voicemail when our customers call in.  Currently, customers have to either type in the extension number or the first few letter of the name of the staff member, but they don't always know our extensions or the spelling of our names.  Best if the voicemail can just list it.  For example, "For John Doe, please press extension 101".

You can set this up yourself. Did you want the steps?

Gordon,

That functionality is currently available. It would not be the voicemail greeting but rather on the company greeting. After you introduce your company, simply list the names and extensions.

Examples of company greetings:
"Welcome to XYZ Widgets. We are the best when it comes to widgets. If you know the extension of the person you want to contact you can enter it at any time. For Sales, Press 1, for customer support press 2, For John Doe, please enter extension 101, For Susan Jones please enter extension 102, etc."

Thanks for the reply Jan.  I was looking for more of an automated message from Ring Central that would list the names and extensions, as opposed to a personal voicemail that we would have to record.  Do you know if that is available?

RC does not do that, you'd need to record an audio file, IE for a employee listing press 1, and then that audio file would play your pre-recorded information

No...that is not available. The only other way would be for you to implement the Dial-By-Name directory that you are already aware of. To be honest, I'm not aware of any service that has the functionality you are requesting. Mind you, I'm not saying it's not out there, but as far as I am aware all providers have you type in at least the first three characters of either the first or last name.

If you were to use the first names, which most people know how to spell, it will recite all the names of those that meet the criteria and allow your users to choose the one they want.

Just a reminder....this is NOT accomplished in the voicemail greetings. You must turn on the Dial-By-Name directory, configure it and add the extension to your Company Greeting. Such as, "To find the extension of one of our employees, please press 9."

Thanks for the detailed response Jan.  I figured that was the case.  We are using the dial by name now, but we have a few staff members with names that are hard to pronounce and even attempt to spell, which is what prompted this post.  But, again, thanks for the input.  Have a good day.
