This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled RingCentral has acquired Glip.

If that means that we will get more features, that is great!

(Hope new Reports are coming)...

If we are talking about "integration", I hope to see the Glip functionalities embedded into the Softphone app.
Or could be similar to the actual integration with Gmail, with the "RC dialpad" at the side.

Please, do not segregate the Glip integration only with the Premium or Enterprise plans, let share this tool for all the RingCentral customers, no matter the size of the company or number of lines...

I would recommend adding the 'softphone' to the glip interface for 'glip-heavy' and then having some kind of 'glip lite' for the softphone that is just an IM. What is your roadmap timeline for getting this to primetime?

Hi Brad, there are too many unknowns to provide any sort of ETA at this time.

Brad, Our recent release included an integration to initiate calls from within the Glip app.  Just click on the persons name you wish to call then at the top of the screen you'll see these icons.

Get rid of the Softphone app and put everything into Glip. I want to Call SMS MMS and video conference my customers in 1 place.

Here is what should do. Ditch the soft phone app. Integrate everything into Glip interface (add MMS). Open APIs and create a marketplace for other vendors to integrate with RingCentral.

I'm trying to figure out how I can send/receive SMS messages with Slack. I'm already firing an alert through IFTT, but it ends up happening for EVERY exchange; and then we still have to use the desktop App, which is just another tool that almost works well. Anyone working on a solution like this through the API?

Glip has to open the API. Why would you use slack when you could use Glip?

Clip's task management needs functionality to incorporate Project Management like Asana.  If Asana and Glip were combined into to one application... it would be an incredible tool.  The integration and trying to use Glip and Asana is somewhat redundant.  No need for two calendars and tasks should be seamless between the two.

I'm not sure if this has been covered here. But is there a road map to have an ultimate app that will have all RC phone features and Glip features in one. Probably can have Glip as an IM/Collaboration feature of the current softphone. This is to eliminate the need to have multiple possible pain-points for most users.

Just letting you all know we release a new version of Glip for Android last night. You'll want to update your app as this new version performs much better! Be sure to eave a review in the Google play store and let us know what you think.

Would love to create a team on glip for all of the faxes to our main fax number to go into.  They should each go in as an open todo.  Then as the team works through the faxes they can be checked off as done.  This is better than having the fax emailed to 3 people and possibly have more than one work on it at the same time.

This is an interesting idea.  You can do something close to this now, but it might not be as automated as you wish.

You could have the fax notifications sent to a single email address (with attachment).  Then through your email client set up a fowarding rule to send the email to the glip room.  Unfortunately this won't create a task, but, whoever manages the Glip room could convert the post to a task.

Please start the "integration" with the ability to automatically log into Glyp from the desktop app shortcut.   Unless you are setup for single signon, that takes more time than its worth for small teams, it is just one more app to remember to launch, and another  step log into yet another web page.    "Hey did you get my Glyp?".... Duhh.... no, lemme go log into it...no wait...just tell me....."

Rickkee,

Once you have logged into Glip, cookies will assure that you will log on automatically. To this end, you do not need Single SignOn to log into Glip from the desktop application. Simply click on the Launch Glip icon (shown below in my screen shot) and it will open Glip to the last place you had it opened.

It's simple to start and does not require you to log into another web page. If you have cookies turned off for this URL I would strongly suggest that you allow it for at least Glip. Then it will do as I have noted above.

I think Glip's ideal usage is as a central communications hub.  To that end, i agree with many posts above calling for a RC superapp that mergers Glip with the Softphone.  That would allow the removal of all sorts of redundancies between the two:  calendars, message vs. internal text, multiple apps, HUD.  In addition to this, I would add a WIKI service to Glip, OR make the Glip File contents searchable (the way evernote works) in the general search.

I would stop there to preserve the integrity of the communications hub idea and prevent the usage from becoming too specialized on Glip.  Getting a team to hop onto the Glip way of communicating will be enough of a company culture challenge.

From there, I would suggest the following integrations (vs. API):
  • Project Management (Basecamp, Asana, Zoho, IMeetCentral)
  • Email (all common cloud systems, Exchange, Apple)
  • Outside calendars, including scheduling software (calendly, doodle)
  • Storage:  Dropbox, Sharefile, Google Drive
  • Evernote

This would allow teams to incrementally incorporate larger systems of communcations with out affecting the core use of Glip.

Our team uses Slack and if Glip could work more seamlessly with RingCentral then it might be worth changing for my company and many others.

Glip Hubstaff Integration would be great. Hubstaff is a time tracker and payroll processer. They already have a lot of integrations but I do not see any with Ring Central. It would be great if every time someone begins or ends tracking time a message is sent in Glip notifying who is in and who is out. https://hubstaff.com/integrations

I agree with John Tan that Calendly would be an ideal addition to Glip.

Our team uses Beanstalk for dev/code pushes and would love to have an integration built. Our previous chat app (HipChat) had it and we used it quite frequently to track pushes of code to our software

Hey Matt!

Zapier (a company we integrate with) has an integration with Beanstalk. Might be worth checking to see if they can help you out :)

Our company would like Sharefile to be integrated with Glip. This app enables us to share documents securely, and is compliant with our professional associations. It also already has MS Outlook and G-mail integrations. In reality, since we are just now going LIVE with RC, I think the partners are not going to be happy to find that there is no Sharefile integration. :|

Unfortunately we don't have an integration directly out of box today, but you can integrate Glip with Sharefile via Zapier integration.  Thinks of Zapier as a integration platform that connects cloud apps, but it's also super powerful since it allows you to customize how & when you want to post updates from Sharefile into your Glip teams and conversations.

Here's a link to check out to get more info.

We use Smartsheet.com for our Project Management tracking. An integration with Glip that would allow Tasks to be created would really help streamline some processes!

I would like to be able to send an email to a specific task. How can I get this done?

This was an idea for GLIP that needed to be created as it's own conversation thread.

Please reference the new conversation here: GLIP - Is it possible to email to a specific task?

Would love an integration to Zoho Desk
Since desk.com is EOL, a lot of SMB clients are moving to that product.

Adding a trigger of a new message anywhere in glip for zapier would be really helpful... a lot of other integrations we want would be possible with that.

Hi Jesse - this is on our radar.  Totally agree this could help scale many more possibilities for our integrations bi-directionally.  I am working with our Platform Product team to get this prioritized.

Adding the Ringcentral desktop HUD to glip would be ideal. In fact glip could easily replace meetings desktop app and ringcentral desktop app and would make rollout and adoption of the app easier. The same should be done for the mobile apps (especially adding a HUD to see call status, presence etc for all glip/ringcentral users)

Additionally merging teams with groups/queues so groups can receive messaging (SMS, voicemail, etc.), collaborate, and respond as a group would be a huge improvement over the current communications options for queues and groups in ringcentral.

Kevin - excellent feedback and very well thought through!  I really appreciate this.

While it all makes sense at a high level, I would love to dig deeper with you and truly understand what things about HUD provide the most value to you in the context of the application today, since we're adding a few of the elements like unified busy presence near term, but others longer term like call status, call whisper, barge, etc.

Also would love to hear more on the call queues collaboration use case - that's a super cool idea!

Please email/Glip me to chat more: ted.jaffe@ringcentral.com

Looking forward!
Ted

The Zapier integration is nifty, but needs the ability to trigger creation of a task specific to a user. This would be a great way to help manage form submissions online with a team to ensure that the team is following up with clients and/or prospects in a timely fashion. For example, a form submission with jotform currently only allows me to create a feed post on Glip, but if I were able to assign a task it's much more easy to determine whether something was done or not with the individual user feedback (checking the task as completed).
