Shared Line Groups: Paging ability

We have over 20 stores (out of 220+; national automotive paint distributor) with 4-8 devices in each on RingCentral. Most of our stores were previously set up as individual users with extensions and a device assigned to each. Recently we've moved to migrating legacy PBX to Shared Line Groups to make life easier on employees in our retail stores.

Currently, you're only able to add individual users (devices) to a Paging Group. I've confirmed with T2 support that we are unable to add devices from a Shared Line Group to a Paging Group as it has to be separate users. We can remove the devices from the Shared Line Group to add each to receive pages but that defeats the purpose of setting up a Shared Line Group.

This is a limitation of how RingCentral sets up paging groups. I would like to be able to add a Shared Line Group (as a whole using its extension) or devices from a Shared Line Group to be able to receive pages. Our stores should be able to page without going through a convoluted call transfer process and paying for additional "users" or purchasing a separate Paging device.

What model phones are you using and do you only need to page within the stores or between them?

Polycom VVX (and probably other phones) have a method to setup multicast page groups that might work for you.

Sorry, I meant to add the phone model in the OP. We are using Polycom VVX311 phones (and sometimes Yealink W52P or W56P for cordless). We only need paging within the same store, so within the same phone system/Shared Line Group.

My system admin attempted to set up paging locally but was unable to get the default Paging group (1) to work. He has since left the site to come back to corporate so any future configuration on the phones will have to be performed remotely.

Is the multicast page group setup on the physical or can I set this up via the web interface? Thanks for any info and assistance

It can be done via the web interface.  Let me look for the KB link or notes I have and I will post back with instructions.

Small PDF file here with instructions: https://file.io/vGPauV. You do need admin password for the phones.  Let me know if you need help with that.
