I hope others will find this post helpful as well.

I want to enable my users to program the softkeys or custom settings on their Yealink T46s phones. The problem has been (like many others have been complaining about across different phone brands) is that when the phone reboots/autoprovisions it wipes out any custom configuration!

Well, I figured out how to fix this. Here's how:

1) Login to your phone's web interface
2) Go to Settings > Configuration
3) Select: "Export CFG Configuration File" and set it to "All Settings" then click Export.
4) Download and then open the CFG file that was just exported.
5) Add the following to the end of the exported CFG file:

## export config from the phone, and add this to the last ###
## line of the config file to prevent autoprovisioning from overwriting ###
##  Turn on protection of local configuration settings. ###
auto_provision.custom.protect = 1

6) Save the CFG file
7) On the phone's web interface, select "Import CFG Configuration file" and upload the file you just saved with line above.
8) Click Confirm and that's it!

Now when the phone self provisions/reboots again it should NOT wipe out any custom settings changes made by the end user.
