is there an easier way to transfer to vmail on cisco phone other than the feature codes?

Yep.  So say they are extension 2001.  Create a new user (w/o phone#) as 3001.  Then make sure you have nothing programming in screening or call handling.  And make the changes in the message and notification section.

what do you mean by special greeting on primary? like if the call is transferred to 2nd vm only and it doesnt tell the caller theyre on vaca?

Bottom line, whatever greeting they have on extension 2001 (when you copy to the secondary extension) is what will play when calls are transferred to 3001.  Meaning, if they change their greeting on 2001 six months later, it will not play on 3001 until you copy it again. Even a student at US Davis would understand that!!

i wouldve accepted a University of Florida grad or Florida State but that'll do as well.
so a messages only extension will work right? no need to waste a "new user" correct?
