Salesforce: need to log a call against a Person Account in Salesforce directly

Our company use Person Accounts in Salesforce, and we're unable to log calls against Person Accounts (as the main contact) only relate them to Person Accounts.

We would like the functionality of being able to log calls directly against these Person Accounts.

Hi Tess, thanks for using the RC for Salesforce App. Could you please clarify what do you mean by 'log calls directly against these Person Accounts'. So far as I know Person Accounts could get associated with tasks or events using either
the Name or Related To fields. Call log is of task type, and they are being associated with Person Accounts using Related To field. Are you hoping that we associate call logs with Person Accounts using Name field instead? Before we add this request into our backlog, would you mind sharing with us more of the background of the feature request, like what kind of troubles the current way of association brings you, is it interfering with your reports generation, etc, and what benefits you are expecting from we using Name to do the association? We'd appreciate your help. Thank you.

Yes, exactly, we would like to be able to associate a call to a Person Account via the Name field. The reason being that we would also like to be able to associate that same call to a Custom Object via the Related To field (like how you can do with Contacts).
