VVX 450 - Display First Name Only

Question

I just got two new Poly VVX450 Handsets, with 1 expansion module each. How do I set up the presence keys to hide the surname/last name? This article hints that I should be able to set the last name to a period to have the last name blank. In practice this does not work. Eg if I have an extension for room AG203 with the following name:

First Name: AG203
Last Name: .

It will show up on the panel as AG203 .

I’d prefer it to hide the last name for extensions that do not have / need one displayed. I know I could set up a speed dial instead, which would let me enter any name and number, however I would like to keep the presence detection feature.

Thanks for the ideas. In the end I was able to set the last name field to blank in the admin portal. This has solved my issues.

easiest thing you can do is:First Name: AGLast Name:203andFirst Name: LearningLast Name: SupportAlternative would be to get the IP of the phone and open it’s web interface.Then going to Settings > Linesand changing the Display Name(or Label?)Afaik this shouldn’t get overwritten by the provisioning server of RC, because Poly phones have different priority for their settings. What I mean is that what you set up on the physical phone takes precedence overthe web interface of the phone, but the web interface takes precedence over the provisioningserver.I don’t have a Poly phone to test this for you, but it really is not needed given the easy solution above.
