Dear RingCentral Developer Community,
In 2016 we set out to build one of the highest quality developer platforms in the world. To achieve that objective, we launched two developer products:
An API running on our award-winning production system used today by over six million people
A developer sandbox environment in which developers could develop and test their apps safely away from our production system
Apps would begin their journey in our developer sandbox, and then through a rigorous process known as “graduation,” apps would be granted access to production. Developers have long respected our graduation process, but have also expressed how it can slow down their momentum when building apps.
Over the years, RingCentral has invested in infrastructure and safeguards to ensure our production systems remain safe, secure and highly available. These investments have included a robust and highly configurable system of API rate limits, an app scope request process, and an app quality monitoring program. Together, these systems have matured to a point where we feel graduation is no longer necessary to keep our production systems safe.
So, on March 14, 2024, we retired the application graduation process. This includes the following changes:
- Applications in good standing received credentials to access our production environment.
- Newly created applications began receiving credentials that work in both sandbox and production.
This allows developers to develop their applications directly in production, making it easier for everyone to create and deploy innovative applications on the RingCentral platform.
If you have any questions or need assistance in gaining access to production, please feel free to file a help ticket with support.
Thank you so much for being part of the RingCentral Developer Community! We look forward to seeing what you will build!
Sincerely,
RingCentral Developer Platform
