Voicemail greetings: I prefer not to use the default voicemail greeting, prefering to record in my own voice. When I travel, I record an away message, but when I return, I have to re-record my User Hours message every time. Is there any way to store my User Hours message more permanently, so that I don't have to re-record it every time I return from business travel or vacation?
I don't know if they did an update, but we used to be able to have multiple Voicemail greetings. I had them uploaded to save when I went on vacation and then I just had to change the dates every time. But today when I went to do that because I am out of the office, they were gone, and I could not find a way to record a greeting just for today. I think they took the option away. I wish they would bring it back.
Is this still an outstanding feature request, is there an update on a potential release?
Can user still only have a single VM message for their Ring Central account?
-I have a user that want’s a different VM greeting for the upcoming August Bank Holiday but to keep their standard out of office VM greeting.
Having only one VM message is ridiculous. If I switch from RingCentral, THIS will be the main reason. It is a PITA to change the main message each time and then change it back.
Right now this sort of thing is possible to do with a custom rule. You can set it in the app or in the admin portal, either way it’s very similar process. Here is how you do it in the app:
- Settings > Phone > Incoming call rules > Add rule > Create custom rule
Below is an example rule - you need to set 3 properties for it.
Name: <whatever you want>
Condition: in most cases you want to select only the schedule as a condition
Call handling when that condition is met: Ring devices > add different voicemail message.
This way you’d be able to toggle ON/OFF a rule whenever you need a different voicemail message to overwrite your main voicemail greeting.
You can have several custom rules, each with different voicemail greetings on them.
It’s true that this is more of a workaround for the issue, but imo not too difficult to set up, and does the job just fine.
