Unable to send SMS to a 5-digit number

Good day! Is it possible to send SMS on a 5-digit number? Example would be the screenshot below. I am getting an error message when sending SMS to this number. 59963 is the recipient of the SMS.

No, sorry.  It will work of course work with a 10 digit number but anything less than that  they system searches for an extension within the account.

I'd like to be able to block these type of numbers. We receive 1-2 SPAM messages a week from 5 digit numbers.

I get that RingCentral views shorter numbers as extensions, but why can't it be a prompt?  "Is this an extension or a short code you are responding to?"
