I have changed my profile picture and it updated everywhere but except for in RC Meetings.. Looking through the help topics I see this is a known issue and some have luck getting this resolved but some do not.. I have worked with tech support and been told this is a known issue they are working on and don't know when this will be resolved.. Looking through the help articles I see this has been a known issue for some time.. Anyone else having this issue?

RC Tech Support: I understand you don't have an ETA on when this will be resolved but this has been known for some time now, whats the deal?

I am appalled at this company Ringcentral ! They do NOT take care of the customer by giving the service that supports the product. BEWARE and DO NOT sign Contract !!!

Instructions that actually work.....

  1. Sign out of your computer for ring central meetings and your cell phone or any application where you are using ring central meetings. Not just close that app, but actually sign out.
  2. Sign into on your mobile phone to Ring Central Meetings.
  3. Click on the Ring Central icon on lower right to login to Ring Central from the meeting applications since there is no pic in ring central meetings to modify
  4. Click on Edit where your picture is located and choose to select new photo and find the photo you want on your cell phone. After you have the pic and all is saved, browse down to settings….
  5. Then Click settings / video and choose ring central video instead of using ring central meetings as your default for a few minutes. (This forces the update or lets the system know your default settings are changing)
  6. Then go back to the main screen on the mobile ring central app by hitting the far top left arrow to get to the landing page called messages and then you will see a video icon on bottom. Start a video call by hitting start after you selected video on upper left. You can start a meeting and invite some random email address or your personal address since your not using ring central meetings it requires someone to be there. Then stop the meeting
  7. Then go back to ring central by clicking your face and go down to settings video and change your video service back to ring Central meetings from ring central video
  8. Now log off your phone and log back in to make sure image stayed and you can now start a meeting from your phone and you will see your new pic…..
  9. Now go back to your computer and login to ring central meetings and see if the pic updated. You will know before you login to the meeting since the pic will suddenly change on top right.

Then you should be good and a pic will update for the viewer on the other end. I believe the change from ring central meeting to ring central video told the server to update some settings and then back to ring central meetings did it… Not sure why it’s this difficult, but this does update your picture.

I have tried EVERYTHING, and this was the fix for me. Thanks, Doug.

I have had a community post in here for a while now and they just sent me a message today with a solution that actually worked for me. Hope it works for everyone else also, here is what they sent.

To change the profile picture:

  • Install or update your RingCentral Mobile App to the latest version (Android: v20.4.10.209, iOS: v20.4.10.72093). Check if you have the latest version by tapping on your profile picture then tap Help and feedback.
  • Login to the RingCentral Mobile App and update the profile picture (How to: Android, iOS). Wait for 5 minutes.
  • Start a meeting from inside the RingCentral Mobile App by tapping on the Video icon.
  • Stay in this meeting for 10 minutes to allow the profile picture to sync with our servers.
  • End the meeting.

To confirm successful profile picture update:

  • Wait 10 minutes after completing the steps above.
  • Start a meeting from the RingCentral Meetings Desktop application.
  • Check if the profile picture has updated.

Hello, I believe I have solved this mystery. It involves a mix up of the two different versions of RingCentral Meetings (zoom version and the new ringcentral video version) You will need to follow all these steps in the right order, do not deviate.

1. Log off of every Ring Central app everywhere

2. Sign into the Ring Central app on your computer to modify your photo icon. Make sure your jpg file size is less than 1mb (mine was ~300K) I used both classic version and new version successfully but for non scientific reasons, I think the new version works better. Log off.

3. Go to the Ring Central mobile app on your phone and Tap the Menu icon (Android) or your profile picture (iOS) make sure your new photo is in the icon circle and then tap Settings

4. Tap Video service, and then change it to RingCentral Video

5. Start a meeting from the Ring Central Mobile app. At the "invite participants screen" hit skip. Your new image should appear. End the meeting

6. Sign into the Ring Central Meetings app on your PC desktop and start a meeting. Pay attention to the Meeting ID on the upper left hand corner of the screen and copy it down.

7. Click the Join button on your Ring Central Mobile app. For Meeting ID, put down the number you wrote down. You are joining a meeting with yourself. (mobile and desktop)

8. Once your mobile device joins, you should see your new image.

9. Not done yet! End the meeting on your PC desktop. Sign off of Ring Central Meetings. Then sign back in again. Voila, you should see your new image.

10. If you are not use to the new Ring Central Video, you should change your mobile Video app setting back to RingCentral Meetings in step 4 above.

This worked for me!!! Thank you!!! (Though it updated for me after Step 6, no further steps needed.)

I know this won't help everyone, but if you have access to the admin portal or can get IT's help:

Since there's no solution in place, and no help from support (they just redirect us here), I went ahead and deleted the user completely from RC, re-created, and that seems to have cleared out the profile picture across the platforms.

But now there doesn't seem to be a place to upload a new profile image for RC Meetings. It's the default "First+Last Initials". I've already updated it in RC app, and it syncs correctly in RC, RC Classic, RC Phone, and RC Video, but no dice in Meetings. Which isn't a big deal, since two letters are better than an undesired photo.

@greg-boll - thanks for sharing that. I didn't realize there was a setting now that an Admin can toggle under User Details. When you said the end user needs to first upload an image - did you do that in RC Desktop (Glip) or in the RC App on a mobile device?

@jeff-salisbury

I changed my picture in the NEW RingCentral App on my mobile device first.. Then logged into the admin portal and made the change.. I left my RingCentral Video Service Settings selected on RingCentral Meetings on the admin portal

Hope this helps..

Both my cell and RC user account are set back to RC Meetings at this time and I have my new pic

I opened a support case asking that my photo be deleted by an engineer on the backend, but the response was the same: suggested I submit a Feature Request and tied the ticket to some known issue case. I escalated to our Customer Success Manager but it seems that whatever resources are needed to resolve this are not going to be engaged based on how long this has been ignored. Very hard to explain to my Executive Team, who are now asking for me to provision "Real Zoom accounts" because of issues like this, and because the feature parity if getting further behind as Ring dedicates all effort toward RC Video.

OK, this is very troubling. I will discuss with our IT Manager. Thanks

I HAVE FIGURED OUT THE ANSWER!!!!

End user having issues.. Upload the new image you want to use..

The ADMIN user logins to the webpage to manage your account..

They Select the user

Select User Details

Select Edit on the RingCentral Video Service

Switch from whatever of the two options is checked and click save..

Go back into the Edit on the RingCentral Video Service.. Switch to the other option and save..

Then it instantly changed to my new profile pic..

RC Tech Support... I don’t know why it took me having to figure this out and not your team?!?! It took me some time to figure it out but I didn’t give up... FYI I accept payments...

Hope this helps all you guys out!!

I believe our ADMIN already tried this, but I will double check. I can switch to the RC Video service and have no issues. Unfortunately if I enter a meeting scheduled through RC Meetings, then the old photo loads every time.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me, but I'd be curious if it works for others.

I tried everything to change my profile pic but the old pic still shows up when I turn my camera off. I spent a couple of hours doing what I can. Please fix this.

I emailed twice already about my picture not updating on RingCentral meeting. It updated every where else. It’s frustrating. I ended up downloading ALL the different RingCentral apps. I still have the same old picture and now 5 different RingCentral apps that pop up when I start my laptop. Ps... the work around does not work.

I am also noting the same issue as above. I am a transgender man and currently my RingCentral Meetings app is showing an extremely feminine old professional photo which I would very much like to NOT be there (and to never see again, in all honesty). This is extremely confusing for my coworkers and extremely irritating to myself. My company's IT support has been unable to fix the issue. I implore the RingCentral developers to fix this.

The only place the photo is updating is if I am on my phone using RingCentral "Video" instead of "Meetings". All other instances of "Meetings" (phone, tablet, desktop) continue to use the old photo.

Thanks for your feedback, Jason. We're working with our product team and we'll post an update here as soon as we have new information.

on Oct 8, 2020 at 2:03pm   •  0 likes

This specific thread has been open for over two months. Are you able to provide any actual information in terms of when this will be resolved? The support article from early August is also misleading since it doesn't actually resolve the problem.

A proper update from the RingCentral team would be much appreciated—if this is something you all are interested in fixing.

Will, we understand it's frustrating. However, we don't quite have an ETA yet.
We will immediately update this thread when we get a definitive update from the Product Team.

This is actually more than frustrating. I need to get rid of my old profile picture, but it's being held hostage by Ringcentral. This has been an issue for over a year - please fix it

answered on Sep 28, 2020 at 8:35pm

I have the same issue, and tried the published workaround so many times already. So I chatted with their support team for the most current fix. She suggested to just add a comment here that the workaround is not working. She will also inform their dev team about this issue.

Please help us fix this issue because this is an important feature impacting user experience. Why not just add an option to edit the Photo in RC Meeting app?

This is a DESIRED option within my company! I have followed the steps in the below RC support link & no change. I even uninstalled the RC meetings before step#6--> still no change!

Why do we have to wait so long for this??? I hope this is fixed soon.
