Hello,

We are setting up Ring Central and have a main site with a main phone number and our first ‘sub site’.  We don’t have a phone number for this site and want to

1.) Assign a temporary main number to this sub site

2.) Then port in our existing main number to replace this temporary number

Unfortunately, going thru all the tutorials, Google searches, etc. hasn’t really helped to sort out how to do this.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Eric

IF YOU HAVE NUMBERS IN INVENTORY WHICH  YOU DON’T NEED
Phone System > Phone numbers > Inventory > Actions > Assign to > select the sub site

IF YOU DON’T HAVE AVAILABLE TEMPORARY NUMBERS IN INVENTORY
Phone System > Phone numbers > All numbers > Add number

During the process of adding the number you’ll get the option to assign it to an extension. Select the sub site.

Thanks for the reply!  I was working on this over the weekend more, and I think the way we have to do it is assign a number in our inventory to the IVR for the “sub site”, then replace that with the port in number.   Then...that ported in number will be active as the main or facility number for that specific site.

I think that’s what we need to do and have setup in Ring.  Will see if that works...

The options that “Problem Solver’ gave are not showing up on my account. When I go to Phone System > Phone Numbers > Inventory> Actions, well there is no actions on that page, I have tried several different browsers just to make sure nothing was hiding, but still nothing. I just cannot see a way to take a phone number and assign it to a Site, I am using Multi-site and have several sites built. If I create a new site, it does prompt for a NEW (only) number and then you can complete your site, but you can never change the number, you can only delete it and then you cannot add a new number.

I tried what Eric mentioned with pointing to an IVR and I see where you can change to Auto-Receptionist, but it does not tie that number to a Site and therefore that Site does not get to use that number for outgoing caller id.

I just noticed this posting and thought I would see if anyone just has a few words of wisdom or any words to help.

Thanks
