We have heard reports from users encountering an issue with App Connect where it ceases to function unexpectedly. The primary symptom identified is that the extension fails to open when you click the orange badge located in the lower right-hand corner.

What We Know So Far

Our investigation has traced this problem to the “service worker” being randomly deleted by Chrome. To verify if you are affected by this issue, navigate to the Details page for the extension and look under "Inspect views." If the text "service worker" is missing, you have been impacted.

Temporary Solution
The only known remedy at present is to uninstall and reinstall the extension. We know that this is inconvenient, and we are actively looking into the root cause, including adding more detailed logging. Currently, we believe that this could be a bug within Chrome, but we are working diligently to confirm and address this.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this issue. We will provide updates as soon as we have more information. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please comment on this post.

@rossonomous As soon as we discovered this issue we began tracking it. You can see the scale of the issue below when we started tracking it, but I also observed since the start of the week that the issue has not yet occurred. That is promising, but I am confident it is entirely gone yet. But for now, things do seem to be a little better.

If people are experiencing this issue we ask that you go to: Manage Extensions > Unified CRM extension > Details and turn on “Collect errors.”

Update, we believe the root cause of this specific issue is with Chrome itself, and it is associated with the auto-update process. The remedy therefore is to disable auto-updates for extensions until we can be sure the issue in Chrome has been fixed. Using Microsoft Edge might also be a suitable workaround for some.

That being said, the issue has not happened in the last several days, so there is a possibility this issue was fixed. We will keep watching this issue closely. If you are experiencing this problem it would be great if you could speak up so that we can work with you on diagnostics.
