Sent faxes have terrible image quality when viewed as a preview in RC for Windows.

I have sent faxes by opening a PDF, selecting Print and choosing RingCentral from the printers list. After the fax is sent, I click the "eye" icon in RC for Windows to see what the fax looks like, and the image quality is terrible. Is this what my customers are seeing when I send them a fax?

Hello Ethan,

What kind of file are you sending? Are you sending a picture or just a word document?

Has this issue been resolved? Apparently not because I'm a new user and still have the same problem in 2021. Does anyone know the fix for this?

Still terrible outbound fax quality in Nov 2025 with RingCentral desktop app on Mac.

Hello @dcheng,

I noticed this on my Windows desktop app too, so I asked around to clarify why it happens.

The "Eye" Icon Shows a Thumbnail:
The image you see when you click the "eye" icon is just a quick, low-resolution preview (a thumbnail). RingCentral does this so it loads instantly without using too many resources. Don’t worry, the actual fax sent to your customer is generated from your original, high-quality PDF, so it arrives looking clean and professional.

To see for yourself, you can try sending a quick test fax to your own email. You’ll get the actual PDF or image your customer would receive and can check the real quality firsthand.

Hope that helps! 😊
