When we visit the TCR website the first registration option is to get setup with TCR as a CSP. This also requires that we pay a $200 registration fee. Neither registration as a CSP nor the required fee were specified in the RingCentral documentation for this process.

We are a freight forwarding company...not a communications service provider. It seems to us that RingCentral should be registering our business and providing a portal for us to register any campaigns we wish to undertake.

Would someone kindly shed a bit more light on this process and why RingCentral is passing the cost of registering RingCentral phone numbers to their customers?

@Joshua Collins I want to clarify - are you trying to submit your registration THROUGH the TCR website?
If yes, that is not the preferred way to submit.
Rather, use the Admin Portal to submit your registration.

Apologies for the confusion. There are multiple layers to TCR, not all of them apply to businesses/ RingCentral customers.

The registration you are referring to is actually for Communications Service Providers (CSPs) in order to allow their customers to register their brands with TCR. The CSP registration is not designed for businesses, only for service providers who provide access to SMS to their customers (in this case RingCentral). When you look at TCR's website you will see RingCentral listed as a CSP.

Businesses are then expected (actually required) to register their brand (business information) and campaign (SMS use case) through their CSP (again in this case RingCentral).

This means in order to complete TCR registration you need to register through the RingCentral Admin Portal. Note that there are fees specific to the Brand (business) and Campaign (use case) registration process. RingCentral does not charge any additional fees for TCR registration.

Please do not register with TCR directly as you will not only incur the $200 charge, but will have your application rejected as you would not be a qualifying Communications Service Provider.
