Our progress with Workflow Builder continues. Our focus right now remains on conducting a successful beta and migrating all Automator users to Workflow Builder successfully. We hope to finish that work in Q2. This migration process has slowed the development of new features somewhat, but once it is done, we are gearing up to release a wide array of new features throughout 2025. Here are some of the features we are hoping to ship this year:
New Actions
- Time delay: Add a delay to your workflow to help with loops, retry logic, and more.
- Wait until: Force a workflow to pause until a specific time in the future.
- Set variable: Manage variables in your workflow to better maintain state.
- Parse JSON: Parse responses from HTTP request actions and incoming webhooks.
- Create task: Create a task and assign it to people.
- Update task: Update tasks and mark them as completed.
New Triggers
- Fax received: Get notified when you receive a fax.
- Fax sent: Get notified when a fax is attempted to be sent.
- Call placed: Trigger a workflow when a call is placed.
- Scheduled trigger: Create a workflow that runs on a scheduled recurring basis.
- Incoming webhook: Start a workflow by posting to a URL.
- AI artifact ready: Start a workflow whenever an AI artifact (call summary, transcript, etc.) is generated.
Flow Control
- Foreach loop: Loop over arrays and variables, e.g., a list of tasks.
All these features enable us to tackle new use cases community members ask for, and each of those use cases will result in new workflow templates:
- Weekly team reminder: Send a reminder to your team on a weekly basis.
- Birthday reminders: Send well wishes to co-workers on their anniversaries.
- Fax send/receive notification: Notify people when faxes are sent or received, or if a fax fails.
- Blanket SMS auto-reply: Reply to all incoming SMS with a simple message.
- Assign tasks from a call recap: Process call summaries and generate action items.
- Emergency call notification: Let people know if someone calls emergency services within your company.
- Call recap sharing: Post call recaps to a team chat.
- Call transcript alerts: Identify keywords that will trigger alerts to a team if they are mentioned during a call.
The future of Workflow Builder is bright, and our vision is a tool that will let RingCentral customers automate just about any task. We are also actively exploring how to incorporate AI into the product in a variety of ways to expand its utility and ease of use.
