I have two phone numbers in my inventory that were assigned to old employee. I received a text from a customer to one of these phones and it came to me but as read only due to the phone line not being assigned to me. I went into my admin portal and found two numbers that are not assigned to anyone and i tried to assign them to me, but an error popped up and said that those numbers couldn’t be assigned through this flow. But i don’t know how else to add the number. If i go into my profile and click “add number” it brings up a “buy new line” window.

How can  I get these numbers assigned to me?

TIA

Step A - Go to the number inventory and scroll to the right until you see the 3 vertical dots (Actions column). Click assign to, select extension and choose your extension.

Step B - If the number is still assign (not in unassigned inventory) find the number in Phone System>All Numbers and click on the number. Under extension, change it to yours. If this doesn’t work, click on the actions column and send to inventory, then follow step A.

Good Luck.

Thank you for your response. I tried that and it wants to charge me $60 to do that. I already paid for the line when i added them to my inventory. Why does it want to charge me $60 more dollars? I eventually want to delete some unneeded lines, but i want to make sure if someone calls, that i can answer it for now.

Its probably because it is having you add it as an additional device. You need to add them as an additional number to your account. You can do this under device & numbers.

Thank you, It says that i may be out of licenses at the top of the screen. I am counting the right amount. but I don’t know if it also count the main line and the fax as two separate numbers, then it could be out. But i paid for them when i added them so I don’t know why it would ask me to pay for them again. They are already on my list as well. I tried to assign them to my extension and the other two options on the list, all 3 options want me to pay the $60. I will figure out something, my end goal is to find a better solution anyways and ring central hasn’t done the things it has said it would do when i signed up. So i just have a couple more  months left on my contract and then i will port out. Thanks for your help
