When attempting to install the RingCentral Unified CRM Extension SuiteApp in Netsuite the installation failed with the following error:  “Validation Failed: Validation of account settings failed. An error occured during validation of Custom Objects against the account (customroles) Details: To install this SuiteCloud project, the SUBSIDIARIES feature must be enabled in the account. File: ~/Objects/customroles.xml (m24v029s1kfo5fecn5jo9)”

The issue is that our account does not provide the ability to enable “Subsidiaries” using the below navigation.

Setup > Company > Enable Features (as Administrator). On the Company subtab, in the ERP General section, check the Multi-Subsidiary Customer box and click Save.

Upon contacting Netsuite support we were told that we needed a “One World” license to get the “subsidiaries” feature. See below response from Netsuite support:

  • “The reason why it is failing as some of the SuiteApps has Prerequisites and may consist of Enabling a Certain Feature to be present on your Production Account.
  • The Subsidiary Feature will be visible and can be enabled on Set up > Company > Enable Features
  • However the Subsidiary Feature will only be available if the One World is Licensed on your Account.
  • For this to be available on the Production Account . It is best to contact your Account Manager regarding this Add On Feature.”

Two questions:

Is the “Subsidiaries” feature absolutely required in order for the RingCentral Unified CRM Extension SuiteApp to be installed or are there work arounds that would allow us to install the RingCentral Unified CRM Extension SuiteApp without the the need of the “Subsidiaries” feature?

Is it accurate that a “One World” license is necessary to get access to the “subsidiary” feature?

@jonathan-wesco Thank you for such a well written and articulated question. I wanted to acknowledge receipt of it and let you know that I will be speaking to engineers about it. Thank you for your patience.

@jonathan-wesco

We use subsidiary permission so that the extension is able to create new Customers or Contacts. Could you help and check when you manually create a new Customer or Contact, does the form look like this and require subsidiary?

@dakong Customer & Contact forms do not display classification nor the subsidiary field.  Only accounts with a One World license have the subsidiary capability. The list price of a One World license is $1,999/mo.

@jonathan-wesco Customers should not be required to have a OneWorld license in order to use this product. I am working with the engineering team to fix this issue and find another way to deliver the same functionality without a OneWorld license of the Subsidiaries permission.

@jonathan-wesco We have recently made a number of improvements to our SuiteApp to improve this experience, but OneWorld license holders are still required to manually edit the role used to access the Unified CRM extension by adding the Subsidiaries permission to the role. It was either that or publish two different apps to the SuiteApp marketplace, which I think would have been equally confusing in the end.

Thanks for the update.  I was able to install the SuiteApp.  Thanks for your help and looking forward to a full deployment of the application across our teams.
