Welcome to another RingCentral "Getting Started" guide! Our goal is to help you unlock the full potential of your RingCentral experience. In this post, we'll walk you through the crucial process of registering your business SMS/MMS with The Campaign Registry (TCR).

What is TCR?
To comply with new industry regulations, mobile carriers now require all businesses sending SMS text messages to register with The Campaign Registry (TCR). These requirements apply to all businesses sending SMS text messages.

Why is this important?
Without SMS registration, you will not be able to send text messages through your RingCentral account.

We understand that the term "campaign" might not seem relevant to your specific business, but in this context, it simply refers to how your company utilizes text messaging to communicate with customers. Registration ensures your messages are compliant and reliably delivered.

Requirements for Registration

  • Employer Identification Number (EIN): For US customers.
  • Business Number (BN): For Canadian customers. (Note: This is for Canadian customers who want to send text messages/SMS to the US.)
  • Company Services & Text Usage: A description of your company's services, how you plan to use text communications, and specific examples of the text messages you will send.
  • Consent Collection Methods: Details on how you obtain consent from recipients to send them text messages (e.g., verbal, email, online form, point-of-sale).
  • Phone Numbers: A complete list of all phone numbers you will use to send text messages.
  • Privacy Policy: A link to your website containing a comprehensive privacy policy that clearly explains your SMS opt-in consent collection process.

How to register
We know that the registration process can feel overwhelming. To make your journey easier, we've provided resources to guide you:

Hi!

I am really stuck trying to get approved--for example I have this sentence on my website

“By checking this box I agree to receive text messages from Noble Journey Primary Care for conversational purposes."

But tech support recommended I change it to:

"By checking this box, you agree to receive SMS messages from Noble Journey Primary Care related to Conversational"

Which isn’t grammatically correct.

I have talked to people in tech support who say my SMS policy on my website contains every element needed.  But then I get emails with the same list I reviewed on the phone and was told was complete with advice to add those elements to my website.

My application was rejected for not having the correct physical address.  What?

Is there someone I can escalate this to?  It’s been 7 months now.
