Welcome to another "Getting Started with RingCentral" series! This time, we’ll be guiding you on how to update the Caller ID name of individual phone numbers or user extensions allowing you to show different caller ID names based on your business needs.
What is the Caller ID Name?
Your Caller ID name (CNAM) is the name displayed to recipients outside your organization. You can assign a caller ID name to your entire company, a specific site within your multi-site setup, or an individual phone number.
What problem does this solve for me?
- Avoid being marked as spam: It helps customers know they’re talking to a legitimate business, reducing the chances of being mistaken for spam.
- Regulatory compliance: Ensures businesses meet legal requirements for showing correct caller info.
- Clarifying the caller’s Identity: If you manage multiple phone numbers in your business, you can display different names for each line to help recipients easily identify the caller.
- Protecting Privacy: If you don’t want your personal name or your business phone number to appear when calling customers, you can set up the caller ID name to display your business name. This adds a layer of privacy while still allowing you to make calls.
How to set up a phone number or user extension’s Caller ID name
