when you hover over the red icon does it say in a call or in a meeting?

It depends on what I was doing last. If I was in a call, it remains solid red until I physically change it to green, even though I've been been off the call for a long time. The same happens with meetings.

You may be experiencing delays with Glip Status. Try to uninstall/reinstall the app and see if there's any changes.
