I tried to make a call on my computer, and I received an error advising that there was a problem and I needed to try again later.

I checked, and there aren’t any reported widespread issues right now. It may be specific to your setup.
Here are some quick things to try:
Restart your computer and the RingCentral app
Check your internet connection
Make sure your audio devices are set up correctly
Update the RingCentral app
Check your firewall/antivirus settings
If the issue persists, I suggest opening a support ticket here: https://support.ringcentral.com/new-case.html.
