Question

Ring Central TCR scam?!?!

We’ve been using RingCentral for over 10 years, and while they haven’t been completely bug-free, we were generally satisfied with their service. However, the past year has been a nightmare as we’ve been trying to complete our TCR registration.

We already have a successfully registered TCR brand through Twilio, where we send automated texts without any issues. However, with RingCentral, we’ve applied for TCR registration more than eight+ times and have been repeatedly denied. Each time we’re denied (for different reasons every time), we have to pay to resubmit and wait about 15 days for the outcome.

Every time we reach out to RingCentral support, an agent advises us on what changes to make, assuring us that the revised application is compliant and will be approved. Yet, without fail, it gets denied again. Even more frustrating is that the reasons for rejection often involve new issues that were never flagged before, forcing us to make more changes, pay again, and resubmit—trapped in an endless, costly loop that feels like a scam. Also, the cherry on top is, we are still receiving overage charges for text messages!!!!!!!

At one point, I even spoke to a supervisor who reassured me that our application was compliant, said she would file an appeal, and promised to expedite the process. After waiting another 15 days, we were once again met with a rejection.

What makes this even more absurd is that we don’t even use RingCentral for automated texts. Our business communications are strictly person-to-person—employees talking with each other or communicating directly with customers about appointments and updates.

RingCentral made us include automated message prompts like "STOP," "HELP," and "START" in our TCR registration, even though RingCentral doesn’t actually support those capabilities when a customer texts. When I questioned a RingCentral representative about it, their response was literally, "Oh, I know, but just put it in there."

That’s beyond sketchy. They’re forcing us to add functionality that they don’t even offer, just to meet some arbitrary requirement. It feels like they’re just pushing us through hoops for no reason—or worse, as part of some kind of money-grabbing scheme.

We had zero issues getting TCR registered through Twilio, making this entire ordeal with RingCentral feel like a deliberate, profit-driven loop.
