Microsoft Teams

Our organization heavily uses Microsoft Teams for calls/meetings. We are in the process of moving to Ringcentral using the Ringcentral App on the same computer as Microsoft Teams. When someone is on a Microsoft Teams call/meeting and receive a Ringcentral call and answers it, the other people on the Teams call/meeting hear the Ringcentral user’s side of the Ringcentral call conversation. It doesn’t put the Microsoft Teams call on hold. How do we get this to not happen?

Following this. We just recently started using Ring Central for our phone system and we use Teams for meetings. If someone is in a Teams meeting, but needs to take a call on Ring Central, we need to know how to switch the audio from Teams to Ring Central without getting disconnected from the Teams meeting.

…. two years later ….

We’re onboarding RingCentral and have the same issue with Teams not muting when we pick up a call on the RingCentral app.

Hi @Gary Pullis,

Thanks for bringing this up! I checked with our Product Team, and it seems this is expected behavior since RingCentral isn’t connected to Teams in a way that allows calls to be interrupted.

I did some research and found an older workaround that might help. I can’t guarantee it will work 100%, but it’s worth giving it a try:

  1. Go to RingCentral Apps settings inside Teams.

  2. Navigate to: Settings > Audio > Headset > Use headset control buttons to answer, end, and mute phone calls

  3. Turn off this setting (see attached screenshot).

Hopefully this helps improve your experience a bit! Let me know how it goes.
