OPT (one time password) SMS is not arriving. Is it being blocked?

I have attempted a number of times to get a OTP (one-time-password) from Amazon to my SMS. I know my SMS is working but why is this one not coming through? Is there somewhere a blocked SMS setting?

@diamond-hoof-care-ltd. This is first time I am hearing the calls also don’t come through. I would suggest this:

  1. For SMS - Call Amazon support to confirm if they are blocking SMS to VOIP/Virtual numbers (looks like they are for sure)
  2. For incoming calls - If you see incoming calls from Amazon to RC number in RingCentral app call logs, it means call is coming over. I would suggest to check this with RingCentral Support providing them with example, and they will check what happened and why the phone doesn’t ring.

@diamond-hoof-care-ltd. Forgive me, but I have to be dumb for a second. What is “OTC from Amazon?”

@ByrneReese Sorry. One Time Password (OTP)

@diamond-hoof-care-ltd. Thank you for clarifying. I took the liberty of updating your original question accordingly - I hope you don’t mind. Let me see if I can get someone to chime in here to help you.

Hello @diamond-hoof-care-ltd. , most of the services (like Amazon, Whatsapp, Facebook) need real SIM based numbers to be able to send SMS for OTPs (due to security concern). Since RingCentral numbers are VOIP numbers, SMS is blocked on the side of these originating services (and not on RingCentral side as we never receive it at first place).

I searched and came across a similar issue with Google Voice virtual number - https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/3fc15a40-e5db-4588-a105-c3074dd3fe26?utm_source=chatgpt.com

In your case, I would recommend you to contact Amazon customer support and provide your RC number, and let them confirm if it’s a good number to receive SMS OTPs or they need a SIM based mobile number.

If RC number won’t work, you can choose a Call for OTP or use Authenticator app as alternative options.

@gurpreetsingh Thank you for this answer. But even the OTP Amazon phone calls do not come through. My attempts show in my logs but the phone does not ring. Same reason?
