Question

Trigger for sending an sms when a Press 1, Press 2, Press 3 type option is presented.

In my IVR, I would like to have an option along the lines of:

“Please press 1 to receive a text back to your cellular number with instructions for blah blah blah.”

Does Workflow have that function available yet?

Thank you!

@lhelfrich This might be helpful:

But I also feel I need to update that article with better guidance. One thing that is really important when recording your IVR prompt is to be sure you are collecting consent.

Click 2 to receive an SMS. By clicking 2 you consent to receive an SMS, text and data rates may apply.

Then send them to an extension - I might suggest a voicemail extension, or any extension in which you can play some kind of audio prompt. That might say,

Please check for a new SMS message with the information you requested. It may take up to several minutes for the message to arrive.

Or something like that. Then create an automation for that extension to send an SMS when it receives a call.

In the future I hope to improve upon this user experience even more by building out a specific trigger for IVR menu key presses. Then one would be able to design what specifically happens when a user selects a number.
