Update: App Connect 1.5.7 is now available
We're thrilled to announce the upcoming release of App Connect version 1.5.7, scheduled for release in the next 10-14 days. This release is a significant milestone for our popular server-side call logging feature. This update incorporates invaluable insights gleaned from our beta program, leading to a more robust, reliable, and user-friendly experience for organizations of all sizes.
What We've Learned from Your Beta Feedback
When we first introduced server-side call logging, our primary goal was to simplify call logging for large and distributed organizations. The greatest value, as confirmed by your feedback, is the ability to log phone calls without requiring individual users to download and install App Connect. This is a game-changer for ensuring greater compliance across a dispersed workforce, drastically reducing the IT overhead associated with managing individual installations.
Initially, we explored using individual user credentials for logging calls on behalf of others. However, our beta testers quickly revealed a critical flaw in this approach: it inadvertently reintroduced the very problem we aimed to solve – the need for individual user setup and management. Furthermore, we discovered that this method was ultimately not as reliable as we needed it to be for consistent call logging. This feedback was crucial and has reshaped our development path.
New Features in App Connect 1.5.7
App Connect 1.5.7 directly addresses these learnings, culminating in a set of powerful new features designed to streamline server-side call logging:
-
Admin-Centric Call Logging: Server-side call logging will now preferentially use the admin's credentials to log calls. Critically, ownership of the created records will be assigned directly using the CRM's API, ensuring accurate attribution without individual user intervention.
-
Enhanced Bullhorn Reliability: For our Bullhorn users, server-side call logging will migrate to username/password authentication for the admin. This change is projected to deliver significantly greater reliability and consistency in call logging.
-
Streamlined Agent ID Discovery: We're introducing a new mechanism that enables App Connect to search CRMs for an agent's user ID. This feature is a foundational step, and will later evolve into a more comprehensive tool where administrators can easily manage agent-to-CRM user mappings, further simplifying setup and ongoing management.
This release represents a significant leap forward for App Connect's server-side call logging product. The improvements in reliability, ease of use, and reduced IT overhead mean that this is likely to be among the last builds before we recommend server-side call logging to all App Connect users.
Continued Evolution and Premium Features
Server-side call logging will remain in beta for a short period as we finalize our plans to introduce premium features within App Connect. This includes server-side call logging itself, alongside other valuable functionalities like voicemail drop and the logging of AI artifacts. This transition to a premium model will help us fund continued investment in this product, ensuring we can deliver even more innovative and impactful features to meet your evolving needs.
We're incredibly excited about the positive impact these changes will have on your organization's compliance and efficiency. Stay tuned for the release of App Connect 1.5.7!
