Hello @jsolano,
That's excellent news that your main company number is now enabled for SMS!
To help me give you the best advice, could you clarify one thing for me?
Do you need just one specific person to be able to read and reply to these incoming SMS messages, or do multiple team members need to have access to and manage these messages from the main company number?
Knowing this will help me guide you to the right solution in RingCentral!
Thanks for contacting. The idea is that one person handle the messages

Thanks for clarifying that you'd like just one person to handle these incoming SMS messages. That makes it much simpler!
All incoming SMS messages to your main company number will appear in the "Messages" section of their RingCentral app. They can usually find this by clicking on "Text" in the navigation bar, or by going to "Inbox" and then selecting "Text." Their conversations will be organized from newest to oldest, and they can click on any conversation to see the full history and reply.
To ensure these messages go to that specific person:
-
If your main company number is directly assigned to that person's extension, they will automatically receive the SMS.
-
If your main company number routes through an Auto Receptionist or a Call Queue, you'll need to make sure that specific person is set as the SMS recipient for that route. For Call Queues, the first Full Access manager assigned to the queue will automatically be the SMS recipient.
For more details on how SMS recipients are assigned for Call Queues, you can refer to this article:(https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/assigning-an-sms-recipient-for-call-queues-in-the-ringcentral-app-and-admin-portal.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US).
Let me know if you have clarifications.

Hello @Mary-Community_Moderator! And @jsolano appreciate you asking the question! Now I would like an answer to the other side of this, as you referenced in your clarification question, Mary.
We have SMS inbound/outbound working perfectly, but have only been able to figure out how to assign to one person (our legal assistant) to receive and respond. We are a very small firm with only a couple attorneys, and would LOVE to set it up so ‘multiple team members have access to and manage these messages from the main company number’ (and respond when necessary)
Please point us in the right direction on how to set this up! Thank you!

Hi @jsolano,
That's a great question! It sounds like the perfect use case for RingCentral's shared messaging features.
To set up your main company number so that multiple team members can manage messages, you'll need to enable RingCentral Advanced SMS. This feature allows a group of users to share an SMS inbox for a single number, creating a collaborative experience for your team.
Though it has an additional cost, but it's essential for the kind of group-based messaging you're looking for.
For a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to set up Advanced SMS for a shared inbox, please refer to this article: https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/setting-up-ringcentral-advanced-sms.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US
Hope this helps you get set up!
