Remote RingCentral Phone Use

Forum|alt.badge.img

In order to work remotely and use RingCentral, must you lug the physical phone around with you in order to receive calls?

As Mary says, the desktop app and mobile app work great. In fact, nobody in my department has a desk phone, they use the Windows app or their cell with a bluetooth headset.

I use the desktop app at home all the time and nobody knows where I am until the dog barks.

Even in the office some of our staff do all their daily work with the mobile app on their cell rather than a desk phone, but I think those are people who live their entire lives talking on their cell phones. lol.

I recommend a good headset for staff working from home to free up their hands and minimize background noise. Any Bluetooth earpiece is fine, but we’ve used DECT headsets by Poly for years. Unfortunately their ownership change to HP has broken everything good about Poly, so I wouldn’t recommend them now.

Plantronics makes great headsets that are more expensive but IMO worth it. Yealink is another brand but I don’t have any experience with them. DECT works for much greater distances than BlueTooth.

You don’t need to carry a physical phone to work remotely with RingCentral! Here are a few suggestions to make the most of RingCentral’s features while working remotely:

  1. RingCentral Mobile App: Download the RingCentral app on your smartphone to make and receive calls, send messages, and join meetings from anywhere.

  2. RingCentral Desktop App: Install the app on your laptop or computer. It gives you access to the full suite of RingCentral tools, including calls, video meetings, and team messaging.

  3. Call Forwarding and Voicemail: Set up call forwarding to your mobile or another device so you never miss a call. Plus, you can access your voicemail from any device.

If you need help setting up any of these options, feel free to ask!

Thank you @john-oliphant! Love your recommendations—they’re fantastic!

I’d also suggest exploring the AI-powered notes feature to automatically summarize your phone calls. It’s a great way to save time and keep track of important details effortlessly.
