In the coming weeks we will begin the process of migrating Automator users to the new and improved Workflow Builder. We have prepared the following FAQ to address the many questions we anticipate our Automator users will have.

What is Workflow Builder, and why is this migration happening?

Workflow Builder is the successor to the RingCentral Labs project called Automator. It has been completely redesigned and rearchitected to become an officially supported RingCentral product. The migration ensures that all Automator users can benefit from Workflow Builder's improved design, enhanced features, and exciting updates planned for the future.

Will my automations be affected by the migration?

No. All existing automations will be seamlessly migrated to Workflow Builder, where they will now be called workflows. This migration is designed to ensure no interruptions to your current automations.

What happens after the migration? Will I still have access to Automator?

Once your automations are migrated, Automator will no longer be accessible. If you attempt to access Automator, you’ll see a notification directing you to the “Workflows” tab within the RingCentral unified web and desktop applications, where you can find and manage your workflows.

Can I try Workflow Builder before the migration?

Yes! All Automator users will soon have access to Workflow Builder. We encourage you to explore the new product and test any critical automations to ensure they perform as expected in the updated environment.

When will my automations be migrated?

You will receive an email notification with details about your migration date. If you’ve already received this email, your migration will occur on or around the specified date.

If you haven’t received an email yet, your migration date has not been scheduled. We aim to complete the migration process by March 31, 2025, and we’ll notify you as soon as your date is set.

What are the differences between Automator and Workflow Builder?

Workflow Builder includes all the features you’re familiar with from Automator, but it has been redesigned and enhanced for better functionality. You may need to adjust to some changes in the user interface and workflows.

Additionally, Workflow Builder is now a fully supported RingCentral product. Our support teams are ready to assist you with any questions or issues.

Do I need to use the RingCentral unified app to access Workflow Builder?

Workflow Builder will be accessible through the RingCentral unified web and desktop applications. It will also be available via the RingCentral for Microsoft Teams.

At this time, there are no plans to release a standalone version of Workflow Builder.
