🚀 We’re excited to announce a small but impactful update to App Connect!

In version 1.3.5, we've made two significant enhancements to improve your experience:

Error Message Improvements

We've refined all error messages to be more detailed, aiming to provide users with the information needed to resolve common issues independently.

Clio Integration Enhancements

We've also made modifications to Clio's logging behavior to make time tracking more efficient:

  • Time Entry Toggle: A toggle has been added to control whether a time entry is made or not.
  • Billable Toggle: A new toggle has been added to control whether a call is marked as billable or not by default.

More enhancements to how we log call in Clio are coming to make it even easier and more reliable, thanks to feedback we have already received.

Stay tuned for more updates and enhancements as we continue to evolve and improve your App Connect experience.

Clio time logging- The app creates the time entry and it is attached to the call log. For some reason, it does not show up in Activities. In Order to add it to billing, I need to edit the time entry from the created note and resave, it then adds it to Activities.

What am I missing?

Thank you!

@Jesse Friedman Good question. I am not sure you are missing anything. Let me reach out to Clio support and ask.

@Jesse Friedman A quick look and it appears there is an API we missed: https://docs.developers.clio.com/api-reference/#tag/Activities

Let’s get this in the next release.

@Jesse Friedman If you have suggestions or requests on how this should work, your insight would be helpful. I see options like the setting of a “expense category,” “type” and “price” fields. Do you need to set these, or does Clio set them for you? Or do you prefer to set them yourself after the activity has been created? Should we create activities for non-billable communications as well?

Tell us more about how you would ideally like to see this work, and we will do our best.

Awesome. Thank you.

Yes, should be able to set as non-billable and create an activity for both billable and non-billable. The default billing rate is generally set by Clio and I don’t think it needs to be set through the app. What I’ve noticed is that the way it is setting the time entry now is that it is putting the whole note in, whereas Clio defaults to the Subject Line of the note.

So ideally, the note is written with the recorded time with a toggle for non-billable. Activity is created based on that time with the ability to edit the time entry note so the activity doesn’t repeat the entire note that is already in notes.

Let me know if that makes any sense.

Hi @Jesse Friedman,

While creating a call log, an activity is also created automatically. If this is not happening in your case, there may be an issue. We can arrange a call to investigate it. Alternatively, if you are referring to something else, please provide more details.

It does not add to activities for me. It creates the log and has the time entry with the note. The only way for me to get it to add to activities is that I need to click edit in the time entry and save it again- then it adds to activities.

Hi @Jesse Friedman

Could you please share the recording, or alternatively, would it be possible for us to connect for a live debugging.
