Is there a way to show the user extension on our phone screen at the top header instead of showing the number (DID)? We are using Yealink T46U phones. This seems like it would be a simple setting but we can’t find it anywhere.

… You would think so.

The only way we got it to display what we needed was to go into the phone UI after provisioning was completed.

Then, if you are using any sort of network scanning (Lansweeper) to track assest, etc. the Hostname is on the Features Tab / General Info / near the bottom:

This then helps pinpoint which asset has which extension.

Any changes will be kept until the next time the phone is provisioned.  We did have to get the RC Tier 3 to add in to our provisioning the ‘dont overwrite’ of certain settings.  It can be done, you just have to be a pain to your account rep.

Hope that helps.

Going to give you 3 options:

1.
It’s possible if you provision the phones manually as opposed to using “assisted provisioning” - not a fan of this approach. Here is a link to the yealink support site which describes where to find the label setting you want to change:

2.
The alternative is to ask RC to apply a custom config - but this requires a unique config for each phone you have… Except if you want all phones to have the same account label - then it can be done with a single custom config.

3.
not even kidding - duct tape over the corner of the phone display.

or what Joe said - I was not aware of that method
