We want to be able to select differet outgoing numbers for different types of calls. Need an easy way to select at phone. We used to use a dial prefix (ie- 7, 8, 9) to select.

The ability to change your Outbound Caller ID via a dial prefix is not currently a feature available in RingCentral.

In modern VoIP systems like RingCentral, Caller ID is tied to the digital user profile or specific Line Keys rather than a star-code or prefix command.

The best way to get it back on the roadmap is to submit it directly to the product team.

Next Steps:

  • Submit a Feature Request: Please post this use case to the RingCentral Ideas Portal. The product teams monitor this closely, and many current features started as requests from users exactly like you.

  • The Best Alternative: In the meantime, the closest "one-touch" experience available is mapping your different numbers to Line Keys on your desk phone. This allows you to press a physical button to select your outgoing identity before dialing.
