Where are all my old text messages?

How long are text messages kept before the system deletes them? Is this based on quantity of texts or time?

Is there a package where I can buy more than 5000 messages?

Unfortunately, there is no package or plan available to increase the 5,000 message limit per folder. This is a standard technical cap across all RingCentral accounts.

Since you cannot buy more storage within the app, the solution is to use the RingCentral Archiver. This tool automatically backs up your texts to a third party like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Box. This allows you to keep a permanent record even after the messages are cleared from the RingCentral app.

Hi @NLTC,

RingCentral manages SMS storage using a primary quantity limit and an optional time limit:

  • Quantity (Default): There is a limit of 5,000 messages per folder (Inbox, Sent, Outbox, and Deleted). Once you exceed 5,000, the system deletes the oldest message to make room for the newest one.

  • Time (Admin Controlled): By default, there is no time limit. However, your Account Administrator can set a policy to auto-delete messages after 30, 60, or 90 days for security or compliance.

For the full details on these limits, please see: RingCentral Data Retention Policies

Hope this helps! 😊
