Does RingCentral have a document that we can give to our employees to let them know when downloading the app on a personal device, that their personal data is not monitored via RingCentral?

Hi @JKrueger,

Based on a review of RingCentral's privacy notices, there is not a specific, separate privacy policy for the app alone. The main Privacy Notice applies to all RingCentral "Apps, Services, and Websites."

While the policy doesn't contain a blanket statement that the app "does not monitor personal data," it does have specific language about certain types of data that addresses your concern.

Here are the key points from the policy as they relate to the RingCentral app:

  • Data Collection: The policy explicitly states that RingCentral automatically collects personal information as you use its apps and services. This includes things like your IP address, device type, and usage data.
  • User-Generated Content: The most relevant section for your question is how the policy handles recordings and transcripts of meetings. RingCentral's policy states that it does not monitor, access, or use these recordings or transcripts unless a meeting host or customer specifically requests it (for example, for technical support) and where it is permitted by law.

  • Call Monitoring: The policy does mention that administrators and supervisors can use the app to monitor calls, but this is an opt-in feature that must be set up by the company's account administrator. This feature is not a default or passive monitoring by RingCentral itself, but a capability provided to the company's internal management for training and quality assurance purposes.

  • Data Usage: The collected data is used for purposes like providing services, creating your account, communicating with you, and marketing.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you have questions!
