Redtail has begun to create activities from the RingCentral call log.  It is only happening to one user and we cannot figure out how to turn the feature off.  I’ve searched everywhere.  Can anyone provide guidance?

@f030164 It sounds like a user has “Log calls automatically” setting enabled. If you do not want ANYONE to log calls automatically, you should adjust that setting in the Admin’s managed settings feature.

Right now there is no way to completely disable call logging though. Users can still log calls manually. But perhaps for users who only need the screen/call pop feature this would be desirable? Not sure...

@ByrneReese Hello.  I’m so glad you responded.  I made no changes to our settings and we do want the calls logged as notes.  Out of the blue on Friday, it started creating activities instead of notes.  It stated happening to me late Friday afternoon.  Today it stopped, again no changes to the settings.  Baffling. Below is a screen shot user Ryan Cashman sent me of her activity log in Redtail.

@f030164 My understanding is that we always create an activity, and then attach the note to the activity. In Redtail, notes cannot be edited once they are created. So this is helpful for compliance and creating an audit trail.

I would ask you to confirm this behavior. You should see an activity for every phone call. And every activity will have a note attached to it.

@ByrneReese I should have clarified.  Below is a screenshot of what we typically see within a client record (I called myself this morning).  A completed activity entered as a note.  The screenshot above were activities showing on the Redtail home page under the Things to do today section.

@f030164 I will reach out to schedule time with you. I am still not 100% sure what the problem is. You want to log calls as notes. You understand that every note is attached to an activity. But you don’t want to log the activity? I am not sure I follow.

To follow up on this after our call with @f030164: this is a bug and will be fixed in the next release.
