Hi there,

For one of my customers, we wrote an application that sends SMS notifications from employee extensions (i.e., from the specific employee assigned to the customer's account) AFTER the sale to confirm some details. They are low-volume texts that are highly appreciated (we get a 93% response rate). Are these texts subject to the new regulations around The Campaign Registry (TCR)? Is there something we or RingCentral need to do to obtain/maintain compliance for an application that fits this profile?

Thanks,
Patrick

Hello Patrick

Good question.

>>Are these texts subject to the new regulations around The Campaign Registry (TCR)?

Short answer is yes, that this customer's SMS enable phone numbers need to be on TCR. (if they are local numbers, for Toll Free it's a different process)

However, there are a different use cases that TCR allows, and if this customer has low volume(let's say less that 1000 texts a day) and less that 5 SMS numbers in the account, they can get on to the light weight registration.

RingCentral is building a self serve mechanism for TCR registration for our customers, so that they can go in and create TCR brand, Campaigns and associate their phone numbers themselves. Till this capability is out, and if you think your customer needs to be on a TCR brand and campaign, pls have them open a RC customer support ticket, and our support team will take care of it.

One last thing, this association/linkage with the TCR brand and campaigns is with the phone numbers sending SMS, and not with the applications built to do that.
