RingCentral in Microsoft Teams

We are testing the RingCentral embedded app in Microsoft Teams out before making it a company standard. We know many of our employees will have several Ring Central’s open at the same time to work off of.

In Teams, we can open Ring Central it’s self out of the Teams app into it’s own window just one time. Will it be possible that can be increased to a few times, to where an employee can pop out Ring Central out of Teams so they can have one being calls, one being the Hud, one being Call history or whatever, so they can have them all available and not have to click back and forth so much or have to click out of Ring Central in Teams to their chat or one drive, and then come back and lose where they were.

You should submit a customer support request to get help on this.

Hey,

I was told to submit this here after the RingCentral Teams Integration webinar and they were supposed to look at it. Pratyusha Mudrakarta and I think Alex said they were going to look into it further, but guess they never did.

Hey,

I was told to submit this here after the RingCentral Teams Integration webinar and they were supposed to look at it. Pratyusha Mudrakarta and I think Alex said they were going to look into it further, but guess they never did.

I can help with this.
Let me pull together your concern and I’ll ping Alex and Pratyusha!

Hi dkembre,

Apologies! I seem to have missed this post in my inbox.

Thank you for submitting your query here after the webinar! Really appreciate you following up here!

I’ve discussed with our engineering team on how we can persist the users RingCentral tab selection on various pop out windows in MS Teams, but it seems we are battling with 2 limitations from Microsoft that applies on all 3rd party embedded applications within it.

  1. Does not allow more than one pop out window. Meaning, user can only have maximum of 2 windows of the Embedded app open at a given time - the first window within the main Teams app and the second is the popped out window.
  2. Teams application(desktop or web) does not persist the users session in the RingCentral embedded app, so every time the user is switching tabs within Teams, it will reload the embedded app, bringing the user back to the default ‘Phone’ tab within RingCentral, even if say, they were on the SMS Text tab.

We are actively engaging with Microsoft on #2, with little luck so far. We are able to persist the users session for a few minutes after they switch tabs, so we are going to implement that in the next couple of releases.

For #1, we have filed a ticket with Microsoft explaining your use case after the webinar. Looking to hear back from them. If we end up hearing back and improving this so your users can have more than 2 embedded app windows open, we will updated in our release notes.

Thank you for your patience!

-Pratyusha
