Just got a new cisco 8861 phone.  I have a direct internet connection.  It is asking for an activation code and there is none.  Please let me know the work around.

it is asking for an activation code because something is not right. If you bought the phone from RC it should automatically register - you should see the phone do an update and then go online, without you having to enter an activation code.

I am assuming you double checked everything on the portal:

1. the phone is assigned to a user.

2. the user is enabled

3. both the phone type and the Serial number are visible when you go to Phone System > Phones & Devices > User phones)


If you bought the phone from a third party - you need to provision it. 
If you bought the phone from RC - there is a network issue and you need to check the network requirements.

go to RC admin portal > Phone system > Phones & devices > click on the user ext > check what device is assigned

- it should be cisco 8861 with Serial number xxxxxxxxxxx. If the device model or serial number is missing, that’s an issue.

- If you have rc app assigned to your user click on “Change phone”> Bring your own device
