I am unable to find, access, or install RingCentral's MCP. What are my options?
There are a few different reasons this happens, and they call for different fixes. Work through these in order.
First, make sure you're looking in the right place
Availability isn't identical across platforms today:
- In the ChatGPT plugin marketplace, RingCentral publishes two plugins you can install directly: a RingCentral Phone plugin and a RingCentral Chat plugin. Every other RingCentral MCP server has to be added manually (see the sideloading section below).
- In the Claude connector directory, RingCentral publishes a RingCentral Chat connector today, with a RingCentral Phone connector coming soon. Both can be found directly in the directory once available.
For the exact install steps on either platform, see the Claude solutions page or the ChatGPT solutions page — we keep those current rather than duplicating the steps here.
Found it, but can't install it? Check with your admin
The most common blocker isn't that the plugin or connector doesn't exist — it's that your organization has a policy restricting who can connect external systems to Claude or ChatGPT. If that's the situation you're in, contacting your IT or system administrator is the right (and really the only) path forward. They can install and approve it at the company level on your behalf.
Once it's installed for your organization, everyone at your company can use it. That said, each person still needs to individually connect and log in to their own RingCentral account for each integration — an org-level install doesn't log anyone in automatically; it just makes the option available.
If all else fails: install it manually ("sideloading")
Every RingCentral MCP server can also be added by hand, a process we refer to internally as sideloading. It's a simple process, and the full steps are documented on our site — but at a high level, all you need is:
- The MCP server URL for the server you want (see the Servers registry for the current list of URLs).
- In Claude, create a new connector and enter that URL. In ChatGPT, register a new MCP server and enter that URL.
- Know that the server authenticates via OAuth and communicates over streamable HTTP — you shouldn't need to configure anything beyond that, but it's useful to know if your platform asks.
With just the server URL and those two details, you can connect to any RingCentral MCP server directly, even before it shows up in a plugin marketplace or connector directory.
