Fix for Phone Connector error during RingCentral Meets Claude webinar

Fix for the Phone Connector error that affected plugin installs during the webinar

We are sincerely sorry for the disruption during our recent RingCentral Meets Claude webinar. Inviting attendees to install a plugin that then failed to connect to the Phone Connector is unacceptable — especially during a live event. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this caused.

What happened (short summary)

During the webinar, the Claude plugin we provided failed to establish a connection with the RingCentral Phone Connector. We traced the root cause to an authentication error present only in the Phone connector living at the following URL:

https://mcp.labs.ringcentral.com/ringex/v1.1.0/phone

The following URL for the same MCP server does not exhibit this problem:

https://mcp.labs.ringcentral.com/ringex/phone

What we’re doing next

  • Hotfix deployment: We are rolling out an update that fixes the auth issue. The update will be deployed within the next 24 hours.
  • Marketplace submission: A patched version has been submitted to the Anthropic (Claude) plugin marketplace and is under review — it should be available shortly after approval.
  • Manual option (immediate): For anyone who needs the plugin now, we’ve prepared a patched plugin you can download and install manually (steps below).

Download the patched plugin (manual install)

We’ve published a temporary plugin zip file so attendees and administrators can connect successfully to the Phone connector while the marketplace update is processing.

Download patched plugin

Note: This link is for immediate relief only. The marketplace-approved plugin will replace this once review completes.

Manual install & verification steps

  1. Download the patched plugin ZIP from the link above.
  2. In Claude, go to Settings.
  3. Click Plugins.
  4. From the pull-down, select Upload plugin.
  5. Select the plugin .zip file and upload it.
  6. You will be prompted to add a custom connector. You do not need to edit the form. Just click “Next.”

How to get help

Again — we regret that this happened and appreciate your patience while we fix it. Thank you to the attendees who reported the issues and shared logs; your help greatly sped up our diagnosis.
