I’m a bit confused as to what RingCentral supports regarding transcriptions and call recordings and meeting recordings.

Fundamentally, I would like to be able to access a transcription text file for any given call recording or meeting recording via the API. Is this possible? It’s pretty easy to do this in MS Teams, and I want to do the same in RingCentral, as it is in many ways superior to Teams. However, it’s simply not clear what Ring Central supports.

Basically, voice calls and video calls transcription in RingCentral is very native to the RC app. This means that if the feature is available for a RingCentral plan, users under the account can use it within the RC app. In addition,  a user can manually download the call transcripts (and other AI analysis insights if available) from the RC app.

Currently, there is no API to access the live transcripts and call insights generated for the RC app users.

For now, only the RingSense service (required RingSense license), which provides post call transcripts and insights analysis is accessible via the RingSense API.

Is RingSense and RC App transcriptions not the same thing then?

Yes, the AI assistant available via the RC app is a real time transcription and agent notes. RingSense is a different service which is a post-call (required the call to be recorded) insights analysis and the result also comes with the transcripts and other metrics.
