We are just putting out phones out on site and some are not getting any IP.  when trying to login to the web interface admin/admin does not work. could it be a firmware upgrade problem ?

Thanks

Andy

What make of phone do you have.

When RC does their provisioning, they do sometimes alter the admin passcode.

    If it’s a Polycom - use admin and 789

If there’s no IP - have you checked from Layer 1 on?  right cable, port, vlan, etc.  PoE set on port (if PoE)  And, I gate to ask this - but the correct port on the phone?  If you bring the phone back to a known good port, does it get an IP?

Did you update the phone firmware before doing the provisioning?  I know RC checks during that time and will downgrade in some instances.

Let us know the make/model of the phones.

    It’s a yealink SIP-T33G phone

It was straight out of the box.

When plugged in the old Avaya phone it connects ok but the Yealink just doesnt get a ip. the other phones on the network are ok and working.

    Thnaks

When you say it came out ‘mint in box’ - from RC, or in general?

Can you get to the phones menu/settings area when powered on?  Have you done a reset to Factory?  I’ve had a few phones that while they say are ‘new’ - have had configs saved from another vendor.

    Procedure:

    1. Go to Menu > Settings > Advanced Settings (default password: admin) > Reset Config. On the T33P/T33G phones, go to Menu > Advanced (default password: admin) > Reset Config.

    2. Select Reset to Factory Settings > Reset. The phone prompts you to reset the setting or not.

    3. Select OK.  The phone begins resetting.

Tip: You can also long press the OK key when the phone is idle

After reset, the screen prompts “Welcome Initializing…Please wait”. The phone will be reset successfully after startup. Note: Reset of your phone may take a few minutes. Do not power off until the phone has started up successfully.

If after the factory reset it still doesn’t get an IP - questions are:
… Do you have an ACL in place, and if so, did you add the phone MAC to that table?
… Have you plugged it into a port that had a phone on it - so you know it’s a good port/vlan?

    Just curious.

    Hi Guys

    Thanks for the quick responses.

found out that as soon as the phone connects to the RC network they change the password to a rather long convoluted one :(

    Thanks
