Question

Webinar-poll start while screen sharing

As the host, how can I start a poll mid-webinar while screen-sharing a presentation?

Hey, @nhazen

Thanks for the question! Polls are launched from the Polls option in the host controls, the same place you start a screen share. See Using polls during a webinar.

To make this smooth while you’re presenting:

  • Create your polls before the webinar. That way you only need to select and launch one mid-presentation, rather than building it live while sharing.
  • Have a cohost run the polls. Hosts and cohosts can both run polls, so a cohost can launch them while you stay focused on your screen share.
  • Test it in a practice session. Share your screen and launch a test poll to see how the controls look on your setup before going live.

If the Polls option isn’t visible while you’re sharing, let us know what you’re seeing (desktop app or browser, and which view) and we’ll dig in.

Thank you, Becky.  On my last live webinar, I had pre-designed my poll as you suggest.  However, while screensharing, I could not see the controls showing participants, Q&A, or polls that show up during the practice session.  I only can see the screen I share which is a on my desktop, google browser.  Once I stop screensharing, I can then see the host controls.
