Sending Event ID in HTTP request body

Hello, we are trying to send a RingCentral event payload (voicemail) to an Azure Function but want to be able to query RingCentral later on when the voicemail recording becomes available. In the request body section, we can insert variables directly like the Caller Number and the time that the call was placed. However, we cannot automatically insert the event ID or voicemail ID into the request body. Is there a way we can reference the event ID in the request body?

Thanks!

As far as I can tell the voicemail workflow doesn't expose the message ID, and the recording often isn't ready the moment it fires anyway. One way around it: send what you do have (caller number, extension, call time) and have the function look the voicemail up:

GET /restapi/v1.0/account/~/extension/{extensionId}/message-store?messageType=VoiceMail&dateFrom={call time minus a minute}

Match on from.phoneNumber and you get the message ID plus the attachment URI for the audio. If it's not there yet, retry in 30–60 seconds. Needs an app with the ReadMessages permission.

If you'd rather skip the lookup, the function can subscribe to the message-store webhook directly (event filter /restapi/v1.0/account/~/extension/{extensionId}/message-store). The event includes the new message IDs. Just remember the endpoint has to echo back the Validation-Token header when the subscription is created.
