Welcome to the RingCentral MCP Community

Hello, and welcome!

If you're reading this, you're probably curious about one of two things: either you've heard that RingCentral now works directly with AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT, or someone on your team already got it working and you want in. Either way, you're in the right place.

What is this "MCP" thing, anyway?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol — an open standard that lets AI assistants securely connect to real tools and data. Think of it as a universal adapter: instead of an AI assistant only knowing what it was trained on, MCP lets it reach out and actually do things, like checking your voicemail, reading back a call recap, or posting an update to your team chat.

RingCentral has built MCP servers for exactly this purpose. In plain terms, that means you can ask Claude or ChatGPT things like "did I miss any calls this morning?" or "draft a follow-up email for my last call with Acme Corp," and it can go get the real answer from your actual RingCentral account — not a guess.

This community is where we bring that work out into the open.

What you'll find here

  • Featured articles — spotlights on specific skills, walkthroughs, and updates on what's new.
  • A knowledge base — straight answers to the questions people run into most often, from installation hiccups to "wait, can I even do that?"
  • A place to ask questions — if something isn't working, or isn't clear, this is the place to say so.
  • A place to share what you've built — if you've found a clever prompt, a workflow that saves you real time, or a way to combine skills that we haven't thought of, we want to hear about it.

Where to start

If you're brand new, we'd suggest:

  1. Read Getting Started with Claude and ChatGPT (also featured this week) to connect your first RingCentral tool.
  2. Browse the Skill Library, a set of ready-made workflows — like turning a phone call into a drafted follow-up email — that you can turn on without writing anything yourself.
  3. Bookmark the knowledge base for when something doesn't go as expected. It will happen occasionally; these things are still in active preview, and we'd rather be upfront about that than pretend otherwise.

A quick note on where things stand

RingCentral's MCP servers are labeled Preview or Beta for a reason: this is genuinely new ground, and we're building it in public rather than waiting for it to be perfect. That means things may change, occasionally break, or improve quickly based on exactly the kind of feedback this community exists to collect. If you hit something confusing or broken, please say so — that's not a bother, that's the point of this space.

Thanks for being here early. We're glad you're part of it.
