Introducing Lazy Contact Sync: the first plugin built for App Connect

App Connect has always been able to identify a caller against your CRM — but only inside the App Connect client itself, and only at the moment of the call. It performs a live lookup, not a sync. Nothing is ever copied into your RingCentral address book. So the moment a call is handled anywhere else — a desk phone, the mobile app, any other RingEX device — that same customer shows up as just a number, even though their record has existed in your CRM the whole time.

This has been one of the most frequently requested features from App Connect customers: stop just looking contacts up, and actually put them in RingCentral so they're recognized everywhere, not only inside one client.

The fix: Lazy Contact Sync, built by Captivo Labs

We're excited to announce Lazy Contact Sync, a new App Connect plugin built by our partner Captivo Labs — and it's free to install today.

Rather than a heavyweight, all-at-once import of your entire CRM database, Lazy Contact Sync takes a simpler, self-maintaining approach: every time a call is logged through App Connect, the plugin takes the contact details App Connect already resolved for that call — name and phone number — and upserts that contact straight into your RingCentral address book — creating the entry if it's new, updating it if it already exists. Every subsequent call from that person refreshes the record automatically.

The result: once someone has called in through App Connect a single time, they're identified by name on any RingCentral device from then on — desk phone, mobile, softphone, all of it. No bulk import, no sync schedule, no stale leads cluttering your address book. Your RingCentral contacts stay a living reflection of the people you actually talk to.

Install it from the Admin tab in App Connect, under Plugins.

Why this matters beyond one plugin

Lazy Contact Sync is also a great showcase for what the App Connect plugin framework is capable of. Plugins let developers extend what happens around call, SMS, and fax logging without needing to build or own an entire CRM connector — and this plugin is a perfect example of that potential in action, closing a real, long-standing feature gap using exactly that model. If you've wondered what a plugin could actually do for your organization, this is a great place to start.

A partner worth knowing

This is also a moment to recognize Captivo Labs. They've already built three of App Connect's CRM connectors — ConnectWise, Odoo, and Smokeball — and with Lazy Contact Sync, they're the first partner in our ecosystem to build and publish an App Connect plugin. That's a real statement of both their commitment to the App Connect framework and their depth of expertise working within it.

If your organization has CRM integration needs App Connect doesn't cover out of the box, Captivo Labs is a partner worth talking to — and they're one of several partners in our ecosystem ready to help.

Get started

Install Lazy Contact Sync today from the App Connect admin console, and if you've got CRM integration needs of your own, reach out to Captivo Labs or any of our other App Connect partners to see how they can help.
