One of the most common questions in our community is: "Which headset should I buy for RingCentral?" While almost any Bluetooth or USB headset will play audio, RingCentral recommended headsets support HID (Human Interface Device). This allows you to use the physical buttons on your headset to answer, end, and mute calls without clicking around in the app.
Call controls include:
- Answer/end
- Mute/unmute
- Volume up/down
- Hold/resume

🛠 How to Enable Your Headset in RingCentral
Even with a supported headset, you often need to "toggle" the connection in your settings to enable button controls.
- Open your RingCentral App.
- Go to Settings (Gear icon) > Audio.
- Scroll down to Headset, click the Use headset control buttons to answer, end, and mute phone calls toggle
- Ensure the toggle for your brand (Poly, Jabra, or Yealink) is turned ON.
Note: You may be prompted to install a small browser extension or the manufacturer’s software (like Poly Lens or Jabra Direct) for full functionality.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do AirPods work?: Yes, they work for audio/mic, but they do not support HID. You will have to click the "Answer" button on your computer screen; the squeeze/tap on the AirPods will not answer a RingCentral call.
My headset is 'choppy' on the Mobile App: This is usually a bandwidth issue. Try toggling Integrated Calling in your Mobile App settings (iOS) to make RingCentral calls behave like regular cellular calls.
