Six Years and Still No Outbound Call Blocking - A Basic Compliance Feature Being Held Hostage

We manage a business account on RingCentral and I recently went looking for what I assumed would be a standard admin control: the ability to block outbound calls to specific numbers, whether by extension, role, or account-wide. This is a fundamental feature for any business managing do-not-call lists or trying to enforce basic call compliance.

It does not exist. Natively.

What I found instead was an Ideas Portal request that has been sitting open since October 2020 with no resolution. That is over five years of admins asking for something that virtually every competing UCaaS platform offers out of the box.

When I raised this with support, the conversation quickly turned toward RingCX - which, for those who haven't looked, comes in at nearly £70 per licence with compulsory professional services support on top. For a feature that should be a checkbox in the admin portal.

This is not an enterprise-only problem. Any business handling customer data, operating under GDPR, or maintaining a do-not-call list needs outbound number blocking as a baseline control, not a premium upsell.

I'd urge anyone else who needs this to vote on the open idea here: Allow Blocking Outbound Calls by Number – RingCentral Ideas

Has anyone found a workable native solution, or are we all just being funnelled toward a £70-per-seat platform to solve a problem that should have been fixed in 2021?

Hi @krupaltandel,

Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. We understand how important outbound call blocking is for businesses managing compliance and customer communication controls, and we can see why this has been frustrating.

We also appreciate you highlighting the existing Ideas Portal request and sharing it with the community. Feedback like this helps bring more visibility to features that matter most to admins and businesses using the platform.

Hopefully, other members can also share any workarounds or experiences they’ve found helpful in the meantime.🙂
